World Cup holders Italy are out of the tournament after losing 3-2 to Slovakia today and finishing bottom of Group F.
Paraguay, who drew 0-0 with New Zealand win the group and will go on to play the runner of up Group E and the final matches of that group kick of at 8.30pm tonight.
Slovakia came runner up in the group and will now play the winner of Group E.
New Zealand did themselves proud also in not losing and doing better than the World Cup holders - surely something to build on and reason for New Zealand to believe they can do just a little better in four years time.
Slovakia 3 Italy 2
Slovakia went 2-0 up against Italy before Italy got one back with a few minutes to go and they pushed everyone up searching for an equaliser and that left a big hole at the back that was exploited by Slovakia. However, in added time Italy got a second which did give the game an added intensity but the hill was always too big for the old Italian legs.
So, Italy finish bottom of the group while Paraguay and Slovakia go through. Match reports for both games coming up just before the evening matches later today.
