World Cup 2010 Day 14: News round-up

We don't know where to start so we think we will start with the United States - the luckiest team in South Africa and the team we fancy could go a lot further than many would have thought before the tournament started.

We say they are lucky because they scored with seconds to go in the game yesterday and that win meant they finished top of Group C which means they very much get the easier run in to the final and yes, I've written final alongside the team United States.

But we mention them because President Bill Clinton was at the stadium yesterday and enjoyed it so much he has changed his schedule so he can see the match against Ghana at the weekend - we think the United Sates will win and he'll be staying longer - he could become the unofficial US team good luck charm.

Maradona

Every day there is something new from Maradona and while today he is saying he might call new Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho for advice - we suspect, judging by all the attention he seems to be taking on behalf of the team, he already has.

The African blame game

Ivory Coast striker Salomon Kalou has blamed raised expectations as the reason why so few African teams have done well in the World Cup. They had to find a reason but we put it down to the quality of the leagues and players. We also hope that they will both get better now. It will take time but it will happen.

What happens in Algeria should stay in Algeria

After the unlucky defeat last night, Algeria player Rafik Saifi was walking through the press area after the game when he spotted Asma Halimi, a reporter working for Algerian newspaper Competition. He walked over and slapped here in the face. She slapped back and she will be reporting him to FIFA but it has no place in the game.

Apparently, Halimi had written something that Saifi didn't agree with.
