World Cup 2010 Countdown: 100 days to go and 600,000 tickets still available

The World Cup kicks off in exactly 100 days and if you were planning on going, you can still get your hands on tickets but every day more and more are getting sold and they are expected to sell out.

The event kicks off June 11th in Johannesburg and Cape Town and with the final and both semi-finals already sold out, the 600,000 tickets still available represent just under 10,000 per match - a big number.

Tickets however are not going to be available from the stadium - you can only order via the FIFA website so be sure that you have booked and that you have booked through an approved agent - not a website passing themselves off as an approved agent. To make sure you are not fooled, you can get more information on what to look for here.

World Cup Job & Ticket Scam

We have also noticed an increase in emails and text messages getting sent out offering the chance to work in South Africa during the World Cup or suggesting you have won a lottery to win tickets. Please be advised that these are both scams. Do not be fooled and do not send any money to these people.

World Cup Flights

In other news, six South African airlines are being investigated for ´allegedly´ agreeing to increase fares for local flights during the World Cup.

The airlines being investigated are: Comair, South African Airways, 1time, Airlink, SA Express and Mango. All but SAA have denied the allegations, however all are co-operating with the investigation.

So, be careful when booking internal flights in South Africa and if you want our advice - hire a car or jump on a bus - South Africa has so much to see that you are only wasting the chance when sitting on a plane for two hours when you could be taking it easy over two days.

It isn´t every day you get the chance to visit one of the most beautiful countries in the world so take the time to see it!

100 Days & Counting

The World Cup is about to start. Starting next month we will be putting up reviews of all the opening matches, listing league tables and giving you loads of information on local attractions and listing alternative ways to travel around South Africa and tips and tricks on what to see and what not to do.
