If you are not one of the lucky few hundred thousand that will be watching a World Cup live in South Africa next year, don't worry, there is a chance you'll be able to watch the football, or clips anyway, as the match unfolds.

FIFA TV Director Niclas Ericson said the new mobile viewing option was aimed specifically at supporters who do not have access to a television when the match is on.

"Not everyone can get to a TV screen when the matches are being played. Therefore we have worked out a way of ensuring that the matches, results and updates will be available on mobile phones. This is a big innovation and we believe it will be well received," he said.

FIFA estimate that they'll make $2.5 billion from the sale of media rights to the Confederations Cup and the World Cup next year but Ericson also doesn't expect on the television audiences of 26 billion that tuned in to Germany in 2006.
