Over 15,000 people have applied to be volunteers for the World Cup, which kicks off in less than a year and you still have a chance to apply if you are interested in getting up close to the event.
If you are interested in volunteering for the 2010 World Cup you can either ring 0800 52 52 52, if you are in South Africa or you can email volunteerprogramme@2010oc.com for further information and details on how to apply.
As of Monday this week the Local Organising Committee had received 15,042 applications from people in 133 countries which included nearly 500 people ready to volunteer for the World Cup final draw to take place in Cape Town in December.
The volunteer programme has only recently opened but they need 15,000 people. 10% of those must come from Africa, 10% must be international and the remaining 80% must come from South Africa.
Applications for the volunteer programme will be accepted up until August 31st 2009.
