There is a 12 man shortlist for the position of coach to Bafana Bafana which includes favourite to take over and current England coach Sven Goran Eriksson.
Others on the list include Brazilians Carlos Alberto Parreira and Scolari, Eriksson, Frank Rijkaard, Patrice Nouveau, Kalusha Bwalya, Christopher Eghuaven, Stephen Keshi, Pitso Mosimane, Steve Komphela, Jomo Sono and Gordon Igesund.
South Africa have failed to qualify for this year's World Cup but as hosts have an automatic ticket to the 2010 tournament and are determined to prepare as best they can. Without the automatic qualification none of the above names would have taken the job for all the gold in south Africa, but with qualification and the promise of a large salary expect them all to be fighting for it.
