Sven backs England to beat Germany in World Cup

Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson is backing his old side to beat Germany this weekend to reach the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

Eriksson, currently taking charge of the Ivory Coast in South Africa, was in charge when England famously beat Germany 5-1 in 2001.

The two meet in Bloemfontein on Sunday and when Sven was asked if they could repeat their 5-1 victory he said "Why not?"

"I saw their match against Slovenia .. they qualified and I think they played well, especially in the first half.

"I think they can beat Germany and that will be a big game, of course, a huge game."

We also think they will beat Germany but we are not writing this site in German and you already knew that.
