South Africa will host the 2010 World Cup finals and are looking at how Germany, the 2006 World Cup hosts, organise security in and around stadia.
As part of the cooperation, the South Africans are assisting at the ongoing Confederations Cup.
They are also visiting Germany's special police unit, the ZIS, which deals with maintaining order during sporting events at Neuss, in the suburbs of D?sseldorf.
The ZIS have links with international police forces in the build-up to football tournaments being hosted in Germany.
They also possess a list of German spectators who are banned from attending matches.
