FIFA President Sepp Blatter has confirmed that the World Cup will definitely be held in South Africa after FIFA received assurances that all the criteria would be met in time.
The FIFA president spoke out as rumours persisted that Spain was being lined up as a possible replacement if numerous organisational deadlines were not met in time.
"There definitely is no plan B or C. The only plan is to make the South African event a success," he said at a press conference for the Club World Cup in Japan.
"If there are still doubters, let me say that the 2010 World Cup will be organised in South Africa."
"Football is the most popular game in the world and in 2010 Africa will show that it is able to host a World Cup," Blatter added "I'll be proud because it is my baby."
