NFA Gets Ready for World Cup 2010

NAMIBIA Football Association (NFA) Technical Director Seth Boois yesterday unveiled plans for the preparations of the Brave Warriors for World Cup 2010 in South Africa.

In a two-hour presentation at Soccer House, Boois explained to the media his plan to ensure that the Brave Warriors qualify for the 2008 African Nations Cup as well as the first World Cup competition on the African continent.

Boois and his technical team are planning to call up an international training camp in January for a new Brave Warriors team. The Brave Warriors team will consist of approximately 10 professional players and approximately 20 local based players.

Namibia has currently seven professional players in South Africa and five playing in Germany. Boois explained that the training camp would be in January because many professional players will be released from their professional clubs because of the African Nations Cup in Egypt.

The technical director added that after the training camp, Namibia would be hosting a four nations tournament to access the team and to make any changes if necessary. The training camp will be followed up by international friendlies before the Castle Lager Cosafa Cup which will take place in March. The Brave Warriors will have a second training camp in June during the Germany World Cup 2006 when most of the professional players will be available. Boois believes that these preparations should be enough for the Brave Warriors to compete well in the 2008 African Nations preliminary rounds.

Boois also announced the new technical team. The Brave Warriors head coach and assistant coach positions are still vacant. Brian Isaacs will be head coach for the Under 23 team and will be assisted by Black Africa coach Bobby Samaria. The latter will be the head coach for the Under 20s and will be assisted by former African Stars midfield maestro Wagga Goagoseb while Lesley Kozonguizi will be the team manager for the Under 20s. Former NFA executive members Markus Damaseb and Killer Samaria will remain on the NFA payroll and will be the team managers for the Brave Warriors and the Under 23s respectively.

The NFA's surprise Administrator of the Year Eric Hansen was appointed as the team manager for the Under 15 team while Dominikus was appointed head coach and Willem Kapukare was appointed as the assistant.

Gabriel Freyer was appointed the head coach for the Brave Gladiators and Alma Mupupa and former NFA executive member Julien Garises the team manager. The Under 12/10 teams will be coached by Theo Amadhila and the assistant coach will be Grossinger, and Herman Tobias the team manager.
