The scoreline suggests that it wasn't as easy as I am making out with the title of this post, but it was and the Dutch always looked like they had another gear and they always looked in control of this game.

It wasn't so much that Slovakia were bad either - they crated chances and had it not been for a fantastic save from Stekelenburg in the 68th minute things could have turned out very different but he did make that save and Slovakia didn't score until, literally, the last touch of the game.

The Dutch went ahead in the 18th minute when a long ball was played down the right into space and Arjen Robben gets on the end of it. He cuts inside makes a bit of space and fires low into the net. It was a great finish and when that happened I thought the Dutch were going to go mad - but they didn't.

They almost took their foot of the gas, knowing they could do that again if they needed and the game became quite boring, even if Slovakia did try.

In fact, the game stayed very much like that until the 83th minute when Dirk Kuyt got the ball in the box, waited for Wesley Sneijder to make himself available for the cross and when he was ready and the ball arrived, he fired in to make it 2-0.

I'm not sure, but I thin the Dutch scored the second, just in case something horrible happened and it had to go to extra time and if I am right - they were right to do so.

With seconds to go in the 93rd minute Martin Jakubko went down after Maarten Stekelenburg coughed. Robert Vittek confidently walked up and took the penalty to make it 2-1. Before he could pick the ball out of the net and run it to the halfway line, the referee blew the whistle.

No surprises really and the Dutch will now play whoever wins between Brazil and Chile and we hope it is Chile.
