Michael Ballack predicts victory against Argentina

Injured German captain Michael Ballack is predicting that Germany will beat Argentina 3-1 tomorrow in Cape Town.

Ballack was ruled out of the World Cup after picking up an injury in the FA Cup final against Portsmouth but has flown out to South Africa to support his country.

However, while talking to German newspaper Bild he did have a prediction.

"Everything is going really well, what they have achieved so far is fantastic," said Ballack.

"Under these conditions, we have our chances against Argentina and I predict a 3-1 victory."

Ballack isn't the only one that is confident. Just before the World Cup started, German legend Franz Beckenbauer also predicted that Germany would get to the final.

"I saw them playing recently against Hungary and Bosnia, very impressive. You know the Germans, the spirit, they always fight till the last minute - Germany is respected by the opponents because they never give up," he told reporters.

"Ballack is the most important player in the German team and a World Cup is a great stage for the really big ones and when they are not there, they are missed - but if the other players are able to give 5-10 percent more, you can balance that out - and the team can get to the final," he said.
