The World Cup Organising Committee are to talk to David Beckham about him having a role at the World Cup opening ceremony.
CEO, Danny Jordaan, told the Associated Press that there have already been indications that Golden Balls will travel to South Africa with the England squad and the midfielder is expected to be involved in promoting England's bid to host the 2018 tournament.
Jordaan said the Local Organising Committee would approach the former England captain and current LA Galaxy player about taking part in the opening ceremony to be held at the Soccer City Stadium in Soweto on June 11th.

I think that already there is an indication that he [Beckham] will come with the England team and he will work for the 2018 bid. So we will meet him when he comes here.
Beckham's presence at the opening ceremony would be a huge boost for the Local Organising Committee and it is certain to help increase ticket sales for the event, which are apparently not selling well.
