Danny Jordaan, the South African Football Association (SAFA) Chief Executive, says his organisation's focus should be on Germany's World Cup in 2006 and not the World Cup in South Africa in 2010.

The SABC reported on Tuesday that Jordaan's comments follow SAFA's decision to appoint a 2010 local organising committee (LOC) two years before the 2006 World Cup.

Jordaan said that by focusing on 2010 and not the German showpiece was against FIFA's requirements.

Jordaan is favoured by many to be appointed as chief executive of the LOC, but Safa expects Jordaan to relinquish his current position at the organisation and apply for the new position.

Safa president, Molefi Oliphant, argued that Jordaan cannot occupy two similar positions at two different companies.

However, Jordaan said that the focus should instead be on developing the infrastructure.

Jordaan said the appointment of key personnel for 2010 should only begin after the debriefing session about Germany's event.

He says it will be important for South Africans to be involved in various FIFA activities to be staged between 2006 and 2009 for the transfer of skills.

Jordaan said about 100 South Africans will be involved in Germany's 2006 World Cup. The first group of 20 will be sent to Germany next year.
