In less than two months we will be struggling with a World Cup hangover and we'll be well on our way to enjoying a month of football and with just under two months to go, a few things are starting to fall into place.
We have created group pages on the site and this week we will be adding team specific and group news, gearing up for match previews and reports as well as getting ready for a daily live blog featuring all the latest news and opinion from South Africa every single day the World Cup is on.
But the point of this post is to bring you up to date with news and information about tickets for World Cup matches if you are going to be visiting South Africa in June and July.
World Cup Tickets
Before we get to ticket news, you really need to read this information about buying tickets. If you read that and you follow that guide, you will have a fantastic time in South Africa. If you don't read it, more fool you.
But to the tickets. The final sales phases starts on Thursday and on Thursday the World Cup ticketing centres in each of the nine host cities will also open and start the over-the-counter sales of tickets.
In total there will be five different sales channels starting on Thursday and will run through until the last day of the tournament on July 11th.
- 11 ticketing centres across the Host Cities, open seven days a week from 9.00 until 18.00 local time. Click here to download locations.
- Approx. 600 FNB branches nationwide, open five days a week from 9.00am this Thursday. You can order tickets, make payment and get ticket confirmation immediately; the tickets need to be collected at the FIFA ticketing centres or Shoprite/Checkers sales points.
- The tournament website at www.FIFA.com, starting from 6.00pm on 15 April.
- The call centre hotline. From within South Africa ring 083 123 2010 and from overseas ring +41 4458 32010. This opens up from 6.00pm on Thursday April 15tha and is open seven days a week from 8.00am until 10.00pm.
- 18 Shoprite/Checkers sales points. Click here to download locations. These will be open from 9.00am on April 19th and open seven days a week.
There are not that many tickets left - you really do have to pick up that phone or visit that website. On Thursday, tickets are going to start selling out much quicker than they have to date.
