Local Organising Committee chairman, Irvin Khoza, has confirmed that he draw for the World Cup finals, consisting of the 32 teams that qualify, will be held in Cape Town sometime during December 2009.
With Durban holding the Preliminary Draw this Sunday [November 25th, 2007] and Johannesburg getting the World Cup final, it was a close run race between Cape Town and George, but fortunately for us all, the Mother City won in the end.
"The board today has taken the decision on the final draw. Cape Town is the preferred city for the final draw in December 2009," Khoza told reporters.
Secretary General of FIFA, Jerome Valcke, said the decision to select Cape Town had been straightforward. "It was an easy discussion," said Valcke.
It is expected that Cape Town will play host to one semi-final in 2010, this event is the icing on the cake for the most beautiful City of South Africa.
