Cameroon have become the first team at the 2010 World Cup to be knocked out after losing to Denmark today.
They still have to play the Netherlands next week but there is no significance in the result to Cameroon, however they will be playing for pride and the will not want to roll over, although, if we were to place bet on it now, we'd all bet on the Dutch.
The Dutch will also not want to lose. Mathematically, if they do, the could finish second in the group if either Japan or Denmark score quite a few goals and win. Chances are slim, but the Dutch will not be taking any chances.
But the big match next week will be Japan against Denmark. A draw will be good enough for Japan so Denmark need to win and with that attitude, we have seen today, the Denmark can score and they will create chances.
So, make a mental note of this as it will come up in a pub quiz one day; the first team to be knocked out of the 2010 World Cup is Cameroon. A sad day is you are Cameroonian but you will have others and they are coming.
