England to be best supported in South Africa and potential new phase for ticket sales to be introduced

Rumour and speculation is trickling through that ticket sales for the World Cup in June are not going as hoped and that England supporters might get an increased allocation. Surely, if this is true, it just strengthens the England Bid for 2018?

The news comes after several countries announced that they have only sold a fraction of their tickets for the event starting in just over four months.

World Cup tickets on sale for cash and phase three of ticketing process starts next month

There is talk that as of April this year, if you are a South African resident, you will be able to buy tickets for the World Cup starting in June, for cash. This is something The Local Organising Committee are looking at as ticket sales by South African residents is extremely low.

Basically, if you want to watch a football match in South Africa, you turn up on the day with your cash and hand it over. If you are lucky and more often than not you are, you get a ticket. Sometimes, not often, you get your money back and no ticket, but it is rare.

SMS World Cup ticket and lottery scam starts up

This is just a little warning for those that have received an SMS telling them they have won money or free tickets to the World Cup, that sorry, you haven't.

All that is happening is the fraudsters are getting advanced. Instead of sending out emails, that a lot of email providers and spam protection filters are now recognising, they are sending them via SMS and hoping that of the thousands they send out, just a few reply.

Cape Town stadium is ready and waiting for some football

The stadium to be used in Cape Town during the 2010 World Cup is now complete and the keys are now firmly in the pocket of Cape Town Executive Mayor Alderman Dan Plato.

“At a special ceremony to mark the completion of one of the world’s most spectacular stadiums, the ‘keys’ will be handed by the main contractors, Murray and Roberts and WBHO, to Cape Town’s Executive Mayor, Alderman Dan Plato,” the city said in a statement last week.

Looking to tickets for a World Cup match? Be careful and cautious

If you have not yet had success in obtaining tickets via the FIFA website but are determined to get your hands on some tickets for a World Cup match in South Africa next year, our message to you, is be careful and keep trying at FIFA.

It was reported in September that up to 100 websites were selling tickets that don´t exist and as the event gets closer more and more of these websites are going to appear with the same promise of tickets for matches you thought impossible to get.

Groups created and matches for World Cup now set

The draw for the World Cup has just finished in Cape Town and all the games, locations and dates are now set - the World Cup is just around the corner.

Hosts South Africa have a tough group and England will be more than happy. In all likelihood, Fabio Capello is possibly one of the happier managers after the draw. There is no real stand out group and overall, it is set up for a very exciting tournament but not many teams, even England, will fancy they are going to win their group. Maybe, just Brazil.

Pots for World Cup 2010 draw created

About an hour ago, FIFA confirmed the seedings for the 2010 World Cup draw that will take place on Friday in Cape Town.

We predicted yesterday where we thought the teams were going to be placed and we were wrong, but we were really close. We thought France would be seeded, but they are not, but England are, which means there is no chance for England to meet other seeded teams.

World Cup finals draw to take place in Cape Town on Friday

The draw for the 2010 World Cup takes place on Friday this week and when it is over, every football fan following the event will know who their country have. Basically, the World Cup starts on Friday as we'll be able to create little league tables, even if they are all going to be on zero points for a few months.

But how is it all going to work? Well, that is the point of this post. We are going to explain it to you as best we can. We say as best we can, because we will not know until tomorrow who the seeded countries are, but we are going to take a guess and yes, for the purposes of this post, England are seeded.

World Cup qualifiers over: France, Portugal, Greece, Slovenia, Uruguay and Algeria all through

Unless my numbers are all wrong, the qualifiers for the World Cup in South Africa next year are over and we have the final list of teams that will be attending below.

The Irish will feel the hardest done by tonight after Thierry Henry clearly handled the ball to set up the goal that eventually saw them qualify but I have a feeling that a few Irishmen in France will be having fun tonight.
