Italy won the 2006 World Cup tonight after beating France on penalties. They are now crowned kings of football for four years.

Italy and France didn't play the best football during the tournament but they did what was necessary to get to the final and that's what it is all about.

Zinedine Zidane scored a penalty in the 7th minute after Florent Malouda was judged to be brought down and Marco Materazzi equalised in the 18th from a corner. It was a just result after 90 minutes but the French will feel as if they were short changed.

Italy have becomes the winners and we congratulate them. Bring on 2010.
