Senderos out of World Cup 2010 qualifying games

Switzerland's defender Philippe Senderos has been ruled out for the next two World Cup games after injuring his ankle in the game against Spain, the team's spokesman Marco von Ah said today.

Senderos limped off in the first half on a very special night - beating Spain, but that result does mean there is still a chance he will play again in the World Cup.

Swiss captain picks up ankle injury ahead of World Cup

Swiss captain Alex Frei has picked up what might be quite a serious ankle injury today and he has left quite a few Swiss football fans worried that it could mean he is out of hte World Cup.

Coach Ottmar Hitzfeld isn't worried though and he has put Frei on the plane to South Africa tonight and he is confident he will be able to call on the player sometime during the tournament.

Unlucky Swiss only draw with Italy in World Cup warm up

Switzerland will consider themselves unlucky to have not beaten Italy yesterday and Italy will likely be scratching their heads wondering what is going on; they just don't seem to be able to do anything right at the moment.

The game ended 1-1 but on chances it should have been a victory for Switzerland. The Italians however will like this result; in warm up matches against the Swiss in 1982 and 2006, two World Cups Italy won, they also drew 1-1 with the Swiss.

Switzerland call up Albert Bunjaku to World Cup squad

Sad news if your name happens to be Marco Streller and you play for Basle as that thigh muscle injury you have is going to rule you out of the World Cup in South Africa starting in two weeks.

If you want our advice; jump on a plane and spend a month in South Africa watching the football anyway. You know you'll love it.
