Spain thrash Poland but Iniesta comes off injured

Spain beat Poland 6-0 yesterday, at a canter, but the real news is that in the 39th minute of the game Andres Iniesta came off with a muscle problem. He will have a scan today and the reason why this is real news is because Iniesta is one of the reasons why Spain are favourites to win the World Cup starting this week.

"He felt a little strain in his leg but we hope it's nothing," said coach Vicente del Bosque. But there was also some very good news if you are a Spanish supporter.

The good news is, Fernando Torres is back and the even better news is he hasn't forgotten where the goal is. The even better news is that Cesc Fabregas, David Villa and Xabi Alonso have also not forgotten where the goal is.

The reason this is a worry is because Iniesta spent a fair chunk of the season out with a thigh problem, so Spanish fingers will be crossed today, hoping the scan comes back giving it the all clear.

"The injury has passed and now I'm able to help my team-mates, so it's time to enjoy it," said Torres. "Tomorrow [Wednesday] I'm sure there will be a lot of optimism and euphoria but we know it will be difficult."
