The team doctors for the Spanish team have dropped the biggest hint yet that Fernando Torres could make a surprise appearance in the warm up match against Poland tonight at the Nueva Condomina stadium in Murcia today.
The doctors, Oscar Celada and Juan Cota, say that treatment has gone as planned, and that everyone is happy. The player has said he feels more comfortable and has more stability on the knee which is still supported.Torres was ruled out for the rest of last season back in April and had surgery on a torn cartilage in his right knee and it was feared he wouldn't make the World Cup but there is now renewed confidence after scans.
Spain play in Group H alongside Honduras, Switzerland and Chile - they are favourites to progress and with perceived easier games, it might be good for Torres -not having to rush back.
