Chile were the favourites and they played like them too; flowing football, always looking to attack and quick. The extra man didn't hurt and why is part of me not surprised it happened?
So, Switzerland had to play for an hour with ten men and on reflection, they did admirably well. Up until the 74th minute that was when they went 1-0 down.
Estaban Paredes breaks finds himself with the ball and only the keeper to beat - he does that but he is too wide and the ball is too far in front to shoot. He looks up and Mark Gonzalez calling for the ball so he crosses - inch perfect onto his head.
The header isn't straight forward and Gonzalez does well to aim it down and in. This goal was coming and Chile were the better team, but like I said, it didn't hurt that they had an extra man.
All is also not lost for Switzerland and I still fancy they will go through, if they beat Honduras later this week and I think they can.
The thing about beating Honduras is going to be that they need to score two goals to do everything they can possibly do as they can not rely on Spain beating Chile by more than one.
