Portugal will be without winger Nani for the World Cup after he picked up a shoulder injury last week.
I wanted to write influential winger about Nani but he isn't really, despite having a much better end to the season with Manchester United. He would be with most teams, but with Ronaldo, Portugal can feel confident that they have the best in the business.
However, it is a blow for the player and for the coach as it limits his options.
The Portuguese Football Federation are basically not taking any chances and they have also forwarded the medical file to his club Manchester United but they can now also call up another player as a replacement.
Portugal are in Group F up against Ivory Coast, Brazil and Korea DPR and while we didn't fancy their chances before, this hasn't really helped.
