I enjoyed that. Two teams that I didn't think I would enjoy and judging by the empty seats, I wasn't the only that thought that, but I was pleasantly surprised and with Italy beating New Zealand in about twenty minutes, sorry that should have read 'kicking off' against New Zealand - I'm guessing we will see more goals too.

At the end of the day, Paraguay deserved the win while Slovakia looked like they were a little lost. They won't qualify because to do that they need to beat Italy even if Italy play as badly as England, they will still beat Slovakia.

The first goal came in the 27th minute. Lucas Barrios passes the ball, very nicely, into the path Enrique Vera who, on the edge of the box, shoots with the outside of his right foot and bends his shot past the keeper into the corner of the goal. It was deserved and very nice.

The second goal came towards the end of the match and I'd like to be able to write that you saw the heads drop of all the Slovakia players but that happened a long time ago.

In the 85th minute Cristian Riveros picks up the ball on the edge of the box after a free kick is played in and he takes a look up and shoots. That had goal written all over it before it left his foot. 2-0 and game over.

This table will change later, but for now, here it is and it looks like Andy Townsend was right with his prediction about South American teams.
