In just over three hours the World Cup begins but before that, news has just trickled in that Paraguay striker Oscar Cardozo looks set to miss the World Cup. The Benfica striker hurt his ankle a couple of weeks ago and it is still bad.
He was one of the final 23 named so as long as Paraguay replace him 24 hours before their first match on June 14th against Italy they will be able to bring in another striker, but it isn't pleasant news for the player although at 27 he will still be in contention for 2014 in Brazil.
"He could barely kick the ball so he didn't train," Horacio Cartes told reporters.
Paraguay are in in Group F alongside holders Italy, Slovakia and New Zealand and you know what, despite losing a fantastic striker, I fancy they might qualify from this group.
