I'm a Kiwi - Winston Reid

New Zealand goalscorer Winston Reid was born in New Zealand but moved to Denmark when he was ten and has represented Denmark at Under-21 level but he is now convinced he made the right decision by picking New Zealand over his adopted home at full international level.

"For a long time I have been torn between the two countries. I was asking myself if I was a Kiwi or a Dane," said Reid, who could have been playing for Denmark in Group E.

New Zealand rescue point against Slovakia

New Zealand rescued a point with seconds to go in this game and picked up their first ever World Cup point. On balance, they deserved a point but they did leave it late and Slovakia will be disappointed.

In fact, Slovakia will be happier but I think the happiest will be Italy and Paraguay - they have seen today that unless something drastically changes, they don't have anything to worry about in this group.

New Zealand v Slovakia, World Cup Group F, Match 12

After Italy drew with Paraguay last night, three points for one of these two today will put them in a very good position in Group F and that should be incentive enough for both sides to go out want to win.

Don't get me wrong, all sides want to win, but some sides go out not to lose, some sides don't want to risk what can happen. Both these sides are going to go out to win this afternoon and that is what makes the game interesting.

Have New Zealand really named their squad?

New Zealand have named a preliminary 23 man squad for the World Cup in South Africa. We are calling it preliminary because they have three weeks before the FIFA squad deadline and things can change between now and then.

Two players, Winston Reid and Aaron Clapham are part of the squad selected having never played for the national team before. If you have a New Zealand passport raise your hand - it appears they are desperate for players.
