Italy head coach Marcello Lippi is getting a little annoyed at hearing and reading that his squad of players are a little too old to be competing for a World Cup.
He lashed out at Italy's critics at his first chance today when landing in South Africa, pleading to at least give the team time to prove itself.
The coach mentioned that there was little optimism surrounding his squad four years ago and he declared that he wouldn't let anyone "jump on the bandwagon" if Italy does well this time, too.
Well, for what it is worth Mr Lippi - we don't think you will.
The 62-year-old coach even went so far as to mention that the squad could contain a "new" Paolo Rossi the striker who scored six goals in the last three games at the 1982 World Cup.
