Italy are going to have to wait on test results before knowing the full extent of the injury to goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon after he was forced out of the game against Paraguay with a nerve injury.

Buffon is considered by many as the best keeper in the world. We rate him in the top two and without him, there will be a concern that Italy can not replicate their success of 2006 - as for some, he is considered inspirational.

The player hopes to make the match against New Zealand on Sunday but there is every chance he could be ordered to sit it out after defying advice to sit out the Paraguay game after picking up the injury in the warm up.

"The coach subbed me because I had problems in my leg," the Juventus goalkeeper said. "I was not very good during the warm-up, my leg was hurting. The doctor suggested before the match that I was replaced for one of the other goalkeepers. I hope this injury will be better when we play New Zealand."
