That result doesn't seem fair almost and I feel a little sorry for Serbia. Okay, if you look at chances then Ghana deserve the win but they only won from the penalty spot and Serbia did go close, especially after they were reduced to ten men.
But, there are no prizes for second place and it is extremely important to not lose the first game, so as of right now, Ghana have put themselves very much in the driving seat in Group D and put a little pressure on Germany and Australia who kick off at 8.30pm tonight.
Ghana started best but towards the end of the first half, Serbia came back into it and would have probably liked to have had an extra ten minutes. Unfortunately they didn't start the second as they ended the first and the emphasis seemed to go back to Ghana.
That was until Serbia had Aleksandar Lukovic sent off in the 74th minute, then it all seemed to change and Serbia moved up a gear and started to attack.
Three minutes later Serbia opened up the Ghana team and the ball dropped at the feet of Milos Krasic on the penalty spot with only the keeper to beat. Instead, he hit it straight at the keeper and it goes out for a corner. That was the chance.
Five minutes later Ghana are having a rare attack this late in the game, a cross into the box hits the hand of Zdravko Kuzmanovic and a penalty is awarded. Up steps Asamoah Gyan and he does exactly what you would expect; 1-0 to Ghana and game over.
