Germany v Australia, World Cup Group D, Match 8

I'm quite happy with what I've seen, in terms of the football, in the previous seven matches but we need some more goals and I have a feeling we might get them tonight when Germany meet Australia and I don't think it will be our English speaking cousins getting them.

Germany seem to have lost a player every week duing the build up to this event and while we've not written them off, a former German captain has and we just think that will be enough for the team to send a message back home; don't write us off just yet.

You can never write off the Germans, much like you can never write off a Mercedes - there is always value and I'm afraid our cousins from Down Under don't have that value or that quality - they will be beaten tonight.

Prediction

In our previous two match previews today we have mentioned how the banker bet of the day is Germany so if you've read those you will know that this has German win written all over it as far as we are concerned and we think they will score for fun. We're not thinking five or six, but two or three with plenty of chances.

We like to joke about the Germans but they are clinical and they know how to win games. This is one they will want to win, to stay in the pack with Ghana.

If you click here you will get a £25 free bet with Betfair and our advice is to put it on Germany, thank us later and with a small amount of your profits, maybe donate some to a local charity, because it was like taking candy from a baby.

View from the Opposition

German coach, Joachim Low
We have a good team, high spirits and we can play a good tournament. There is a lot of potential and we have worked really well.
Australian defender, Lucas Neill
The Germans are better than us. If they offered us a draw now, we'd bite their hand off. They are probably the most consistent team in the world, they defend like a machine. It'll be really difficult to get a result.

End Notes

All joking aside for a moment, Australia will be up for this. They will be organised and they will be one of the fittest teams at the World Cup. They have players that can change games and they have players that will relish the big stage.

They have all those things, but the Germans just have that little bit more. This is very much our game of the day and we say Germany will win.
