Australia give us Neighbours and a 31 man squad

The rules are quite specific when it comes to squad size and the preliminary squad announced by Australia a few hours ago isn't going to be the same one that they officially submit to FIFA today. The final list that has to be submitted today will have 30 names, not 31 like the one below. It appears one person from this list below is going to miss out.

There is the surprise inclusion of Harry Kewell, who it turns out hasn't been injured since he hobbled off in the 2005 Champions League final and has in fact played a bit of football. Head coach Pim Verbeek is also confident he will be fit for the Group D opener against Germany on June 13th.

I'm a big Harry Kewell fan but he will hobble off again in South Africa. But to the point; the 31 man squad named by Australia is listed below.

Goalkeepers: Adam Federici (Reading/England), Eugene Galekovic (Adelaide Utd), Brad Jones (Middlesbrough/England), Mark Schwarzer (Fulham/England).

Defenders: Michael Beauchamp (Al-Jazira/United Arab Emirates), David Carney (FC Twente/Netherlands), Scott Chipperfield (Basel/Switzerland), Shane Lowry (Aston Villa/England), Mark Milligan (JEF United/Japan), Craig Moore (uncontracted), Lucas Neill (Galatasaray/Turkey), Jade North (Tromso/Norway), Luke Wilkshire (Dinamo Moscow/Russia), Rhys Williams (Middlesbrough/England).

Midfielders: Mark Bresciano (Palermo/Italy), Tim Cahill (Everton/England), Nick Carle (Crystal Palace/England), Jason Culina (Gold Coast Utd), Brett Emerton (Blackburn Rovers/England), Richard Garcia (Hull City/England), Vince Grella (Blackburn Rovers/England), James Holland (AZ Alkmaar/Netherlands), Brett Holman (AZ Alkmaar/Netherlands), Mile Jedinak (Antalyaspor Kulubu/Turkey), Tommy Oar (FC Utrecht/Netherlands), Carl Valeri (Sassuolo/Italy), Dario Vidosic (Nuremberg/Germany).

Strikers: Josh Kennedy (Nagoya Grampus/Japan), Harry Kewell (Galatasaray/Turkey), Scott McDonald (Middlesbrough/England), Nikita Rukavytsya (FC Twente/Netherlands).
