Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha, who has represented England at U21 level will not be playing for Nigeria in South Africa this year as he isn't sure if he wants to swap allegiance and doesn't want to make the decision as quickly as Nigeria would like.
Onuoha was born in Nigeria but brought up in England and even though he has represented England at U21 level over 20 times, he could pick Nigeria over England at full international level and he could play be playing in South Africa at the World Cup in 50 days.
However, Nigerian Football Federation spokesman Idah Peterside has confirmed that discussions have come to an end with the Manchester City defender telling coach Lars Lagerback he was not sure whether he wanted to switch his footballing nationality from England and was not interested in making any decision before the World Cup.
Nigeria, along with Argentina are favourites to qualify from Group B.
