Nigeria 2 South Korea 2: Yakubu will have nightmares

First things first; congratulations South Korea. You deserve to be in the last sixteen and you've done well. You might struggle against Uruguay, but you might also surprise a few - I hope you surprise us.

But South Korea drawing with Nigeria isn't the news - we predicted that result yesterday, so we are not surprised. The real news is Yakubu missing a sitter.

John Obi Mikel to miss World Cup

World Cup players are dropping like flies at the moment. Next on the list of players that were, but will no longer be playing in the World Cup is Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel who has withdrawn from the squad.

The Chelsea midfielder has been struggling with a knee injury and rather than risk his club career by playing, he decided to pull out of the Nigeria squad and make sure his knee is better for next season.

Nigeria finally arrive in South Africa for World Cup

Nigeria have finally arrived in South Africa after getting delayed in England. The plane they chartered had problems, so they stated an extra day while alternative plans were made.

The Nigeria Football Federation issued an apology for the delay. "We apologize to the federal government and the good people of Nigeria for this charter company's failure," Bolaji Ojo-Oba of the Nigerian Football Federation said.

Nigeria name 30 man World Cup 2010 squad

Nigeria manager Lars Lagerback has today named his 30 man provisional squad for the 2010 World Cup despite only being in the job since February.

Lagerback resigned as head coach for Sweden after failing to qualify for the World Cup in South Africa and he has taken his time before naming this squad to play in Group B in South Africa against Argentina, Greece and Korea Republic.

World Cup 2010 not going to happen for Nedum Onuoha

Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha, who has represented England at U21 level will not be playing for Nigeria in South Africa this year as he isn't sure if he wants to swap allegiance and doesn't want to make the decision as quickly as Nigeria would like.

Onuoha was born in Nigeria but brought up in England and even though he has represented England at U21 level over 20 times, he could pick Nigeria over England at full international level and he could play be playing in South Africa at the World Cup in 50 days.
