France 0 Mexico 2: Poor French can have no complaints

The World Cup has woken up and it is getting quite good isn't. That game was very enjoyable to watch and I'd watch it again. Nothing has really changed for South Africa - they must beat France on June 22nd and hope there is a winner in the match between Uruguay and Mexico - and I fancy there will be.

But and this is the important thing if you are a South African and you are going to be in Bloemfontein; you must sing for South Africa - and throw away your vuvuzela. Sing for your team and let blow those vuvuzela at the French. You must create an advantage.

But enough of that, to the match. It was a really good game but France did look average - they worked hard and they tried but they seemed to lack any real direction and team spirit. Maybe I am just picking up on what I have read, but it really didn't look like they wanted to be playing together.

The first game in the 64th minute when Javier Hernandez is played through to a one on one with the keeper, he took it past the French keeper and slotted home. He looked offside, but replays showed he was in line - the referees are making all the right decisions in this World Cup.

The second goal was courtesy of the penalty spot. Pablo Barrera went round Patrice Evra but was brought down by Eric Abidal. Cuauhtemoc Blanco steps up, takes a really long run up and slots it home low and to the left - the Mexicans are happy and I don't blame them.

A good game and while mathematically France have as much chance as South Africa - I don't think France will beat anyone at the moment. South Africa need a big win next week but it will be hard as Mexico and Uruguay appear to have come good at the right time, but everything is possible.
