 This is a really simple format as there are not that many countries involved but this zone doesn't offer automatic qualification for the tournament.There are 11 members but 12 entries (New Caledonia as a provisional member). Australia and New Zealand are seeded and get a bye for the first stage round. There are 2 groups of 5 teams. The top two teams qualify for the 2nd stage where Australia and New Zealand have been waiting for them to play in one league (home and away) where the top two teams play in a final (home and away)for a play-off match with the 5th placed team from the South America zone.
