 This was an easier group to begin with. There were 44 teams in this region and we start 8 groups of 4 teams each. The standings of these 8 groups can be viewed here.The 8 winners of these groups proceed to the next round where a league system (home and away) begins with four teams in two leagues. First and second place automatically qualify for the World Cup Germany in 2006. The third placed team in both groups will go into another play-off.The winner of this play-off will play off with the 4th placed team of North, Central America and the Caribbean for a place in the World Cup in 2006.
