15,000 apply for 2006 FIFA World Cup? Volunteer Programme The first recruitment phase for 2006 FIFA World Cup? volunteers began just three weeks ago, but already 15,000 hopefuls have applied to the German Organising Committee for the much sought-after positions."It's wonderful to see just how many folk want to play a part in creating a superb event for all our visitors in 2006. This is a genuinely impressive total ? and the recruitment process still has plenty of time to run," commented OC vice-president responsible for the programme Dr Theo Zwanziger.
The OC is seeking to recruit at least 15,000 volunteers, including a minimum of 1,000 for each of the 12 Host Cities. The programme is supported by 2006 FIFA World Cup Official Supplier ODDSET. Information and eye-catching recruitment literature is available from 26,000 lottery kiosks. "I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who would like to help but aren't able to make a final decision yet. Everyone is still in with a chance as we haven't assigned any jobs yet," continued Dr Zwanziger. The first phase runs until December 2004, after which applications will be accepted from June to September 2005 and finally in January and February 2006. More information and an application form can be found in the dedicated volunteer area on the official 2006 FIFA World Cup homepage (www.FIFAworldcup.com). by OC 2006 FIFA World Cup |
