 $20 World Cup Final Tickets It was confirmed by FIFA last week that there is a new category of ticket for the 2010 World Cup where the tickets will be fixed at $20 for South African residents. Some will even watch the final for less than £10 or to be a little more precise about 135 Rand.
The new ticket category was set up to specifically to allow football fans in South Africa the chance to watch games and unless you live in South Africa you're not going to get a chance to buy them.
There will be 450,000 tickets that fall into this new category and they'll also be 120,000 of these tickets given away for free by FIFA, the Local Organising Committee and FIFA partners; Coca Cola, SONY, adidas, Emirates, Hyundai/KIA and VISA.
The 120,000 tickets will be set aside in a FIFA created ticket fund. Basically every single match, including the final, will have a set allocation of free tickets.
If you're living outside of South Africa you'll only have access to purchase tickets from the first three categories and while exact numbers have not been confirmed (as stadiums are still under construction) you'll be please to know that the average price of a ticket has only increased $3 on the ticket price in Germany last year.
The average price for 2006 was $136 while the average ticket price for South Africa will be $139.
Tickets will go on sale sometime in February 2009 and this will, as always will be controlled by FIFA. Not only will we give you plenty of notice if you visit www.fifa.com they'll give you plenty of warning too.
