Ecuador top group A on goal difference after the first two matches and another victory today over Costa Rica 3-0. Could they be a surprise package?
I think not but if they can draw or beat Germany they'll go through to the second stage as winners and play whoever comes in second in group B, which is still a long way from decided.
Many had Germany down to win this group and they may well still but Ecuador have played some good football and they are justified leaders of the group at the moment.
Costa Rica didn't play well and they may as well share the same plane as the Poland Squad as they're both going home early.
The only interesting thing from this group as far as I'm concerned is where Germany and Costa Rica finish; whoever gets Germany I fear will be going home earlier than hoped.
Goals from Carlos Tenorio, Agustin Delgado and Ivan Kaviedes very late on confirmed Ecuador in the second round and I'm afraid there wasn't much else to say about the game. |
