New Arsenal signing Tomas Rosicky scored a spectacular goal for the Czech Republic and put a smile on many an Arsenal fans face yesterday as the Czech Republic brushed aside the USA 3-0. Italy beat Ghana in the other game, as expected but not without a fight.
We've not seen many real surprises in terms of results yet but most of the football has certainly been a very pleasant surprise and hats off to the referees; they've let games flow and not brandished as many cards as I'd feared.
Italy looked solid yesterday and the Czech Republic confirmed that they should be considered a real threat. We fully expect both of these teams to make it to the second round.
Today we've got South Korea v Togo, France v Switzerland and the match I'm really looking forward to Brazil v Croatia. I'm banking on Brazil to win, literally, so I'm hoping they start as they mean to go on. |
