The English FA have confirmed England will play friendlies against Uruguay and Jamaica before next summer's World Cup in Germany. A match against Hungary is already arranged for May 30 and England have added two more fixtures prior to the tournament.
Uruguay will kick off an at Anfield on March 1 and then England meet Jamaica at the new Wembley Stadium as their last warm-up game on June 3. Jamaica has turned out to be the perfect warm up match as England will be meeting Trinidad and Tobago in the group stages and both countries have a similar style of play. "I'm delighted that we have been able to finalise these fixtures quickly and am very pleased with our opponents," said coach Sven Goran Eriksson. "These games will allow us to test ourselves against teams with very different styles of play, which is critical ahead of a World Cup." |
