As expected Danny Jordaan has been rewarded for all his hard work in the build up to the World Cup 2010 bid by been offered a role by FIFA to sit on the World Cup 2010 Committee. The role of the committee is to oversee the preperations and work with the South African government to ensure this is a World Cup to remember. "It is true FIFA have approached me, but I will make a final decision only after SAFA (South Africa Football Association) have made their stance clear regarding my future role within the organisation" Jordaan told City Press.
Jordaan had commented to close associates of www.WorldCup2010SouthAfrica.com last month that he would be interested in taking up his old position as CEO of SAFA. However SAFA have remained silent over Jordaan's future within the organisation, with Jordaan conceding that he had been told to stay with the World Cup committee, which runour has it, is to disband this year. There is an irony. If Jordaan was to accept the position offered to him by FIFA, the local organising committee would be reporting directly to him and he would be steering the developments up to 2010. |
