In a surprising turnaround of events it now appears that Athlone Stadium is to be used as the primary stadium for the 2010 World Cup in Cape Town.

The original bid book submission for Cape Town had Athlone stadium down as a training facility with detailed information on how they were going to upgrade Newlands.

We are surprised and still eager to know how many and which stadiums are going to be used for 2010. For the article that broke this story in the Cape Argus click here.
