Over R2 billion is going to be spent over the next three to four years on upgrading and the building of new stadiums across South Africa.

Danny Jordaan, CEO of the 2010 Bid Committee said that R2.8 billion had been budgeted for the 64 matches over 43 days of FIFA World Cup football.

PE, Pretoria, Kimberley, Nelspruit, Peter Mokaba, Soccer City, and Orkney will benefit from R1.87 billion to be spent on new stadia and upgrading existing stadia. 120,000 jobs are to be created and more than 400,000 visitors expected during the FIFA World Cup in 2010.

Deadline for the stadia is 2007 so building is expected to start in early 2005 using labour intensive construction.
