Premier Soccer League (PSL) Chief Operation Officer (COO) Sizwe Nzimande took the next step in implementing the PSL's 2010 Gateway with a recent trip to the English FA Premier League.

The trip was organised by Trevor Phillips and his counterparts in England during the launch of the PSL Brand globally in Dubai last year.

It was specifically organised to expand the knowledge of senior management of the PSL to the inner workings and structures of the FA Premier League. Nzimande said he was exposed to the complete inner workings and production techniques of the British television product that are seen on television screens in South Africa nightly.

"The professionalism and production excellence that delivers the quality product that we see on TV was an eye opener and is one avenue of our local product that we will be looking into.

Nzimande said he spent quality time with Charlton FC and Tottenham Hotspurs FC.

"One of the most rewarding outcomes of these meetings with the clubs was witnessing the seriousness and commitment they have to their community projects, fan base customer strategies and the youth development of soccer, strategies that could definitely be implemented in our league." said Nzimande. The manner in which I found these two organisations working together was enlightening and inspiring."

He said the loyalty and dedication that the British fans show to their soccer clubs, the FA association and its products, was astounding.

"The South African soccer fans passion for soccer is on a par with that of their British counterparts and in some cases more passionate."

The hospitality and openness of the FA Premier League as well as their willingness to assist South Africa and the PSL in any area of soccer was exciting and rewarding," said Nzimande who added that further discussions and forums between the two leagues are in the pipeline.
