You could knock me down with a feather today because we've finally got proof that there is a registration process in existence for the World Cup 2010 Local Organising Committee supplier database.
After digging deeper than we've ever dug before we can confirm that if you've sent an email to

you will, eventually get a response, if you haven't already.

We've had lots of emails in relating to an article published in the Sunday Times. We've not seen the article but apparently there is a suppliers database to be set up for the World Cup in 2010.
We have requested further information on this and judging by the many emails we've had so have you. Unfortunately we can not tell you anything as nobody has replied to our emails and we can find nothing on the website, which has actually come down and now points to SuperSoccer.
One thing we will say is that sometimes you are told something only for it not to happen. We have tried contacting the 2010 Local Organising Committee on several occasions the past few weeks and they never reply.

Former Brazil coach Carlos Alberto Parreira has signed a four-year deal to take charge of 2010 World Cup hosts South Africa.
The deal was concluded in Rio de Janeiro on Friday between Parreira and a delegation from the South African Football Association.
Parreira is one of only two coaches that has led four national teams to the World Cup; Kuwait in 1982, United Arab Emirates in 1990, Brazil in 1994 and 2006, and Saudi Arabia in 1998.
He'll have a much easier job in 2010 as South Africa don't need to qualify as hosts.
In 1997, Parreira coached the MetroStars of the United States. He also coached Fenerbah?e in Turkey and won a Turkish League Championship. |

Carlos Alberto Parreira, who quit his post as head coach of Brazil this week following the poor showing from Brazil at the World Cup, has agreed to take charge of South Africa.
According to reports, a source on the South African Football Association executive says Parreira has agreed to the financial terms. All that is apparently needed now is his signature.
"It's merely a formality now; the only thing that we are waiting for is his signature and it might be announced over the weekend."
Parreira is a good manager but failed to lift Brazil for the tournament in Germany this year.
Given four years with Bafana Bafana should be enough time to get the hosts of the next World Cup ready and we should see a team ready to conquer the World in 2010. |

Reports in an Afrikaans newspaper on Sunday claiming that South Africa were on the brink of losing the rights to the World Cup in 2010 are untrue.
Michael Palmer, head of the FIFA office in South Africa told the Star on Sunday "That's absolutely untrue, 100 percent. There's no contingency plan at all. Someone has made that up."

In a first for the World Cup the emblem to be used for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa will be launched during the current World Cup on July 7th in Berlin.
The launch of the emblem will be followed by a concert in the German capital on the same evening and later South Africa will also unveil their African Legacy Program - a new venture in that for the first time a hosting World Cup country will attempt to make the event one of total continental involvement.

Finance Minister Trevor Manuel says 34.6 billion rand in additional funds over the baseline were earmarked for infrastructure over the next three years. This included an amount of just over 10 billion rand for the Gautrain and World Cup 2010 stadiums.
In reply to a written question from Democratic Alliance MP Eddie Trent, Manuel said in 2006/07 a total of 8.75 billion rand "has been allocated over baseline".

Tumi Makgabo has been employed by Danny Jordaan and the 2010 Local Organising Committee to head up the communications division for the World Cup that takes place in South Africa in 2010.
Makgabo has a rolling contract that will be reviewed at the end of this year. There have been a number of serious concerns with the lack of information coming out of the LOC and conflicting stories from Danny Jordaan. This appointment should go some way to fixing those and making them better.
